EFCC Alerts General Public On Fraudulent Estate Developers

The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has alerted the general public on the activities of some estate developers in the federal capital territory who are in the habit of defrauding aspiring home owners through bogus offers.

In a statement signed by the head, media and publicity unit of the EFCC, Wilson Nwujaren, the commission noted that in recent weeks there has been an upsurge in the number of reported cases of individuals, who have been swindled after responding to advertisements for subscription to own property in most estates were being promoted.
The commission in the statement further said that stakeholders in the real estate sector as well as the regulatory agencies such as the Nigerian society of estate surveyors and values should come together to review and firm up the regulatory framework for property development in the FCT to check activities of unscrupulous private developers.
The commission however restated its commitment to continue investigation and prosecution of all related cases in the FCT
