Scouts of European clubs, who flooded Estoril during the Iber Cup have been making enquiries about some Yuguda Boys FC players and this much had been confirmed by the sports consultants, who facilitated the participation of the Nigerian side in the competition, Serahana Sports Management.
Serahana’s Chief Operating Officer, Godson Ekadi disclosed early this week that agents of a Portuguese first division side may be in Nigeria later this year to monitor the progress of these players.
“Three lucky players of Yuguda Boys FC were identified by scouting agents of a first division club in Portugal and the president of the club intends to visit Nigeria in November to monitor their progress before the January transfer window opens,” Newman disclosed.
At a reception organised for the contingent by the Embassy of Nigeria in Portugal, Her Excellency, Ambassador Ijeoma Bristol, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Portugal congratulated Yuguda Boys FC for lifting the trophy of the maiden edition. She further commended the Governor Yuguda’s youth development programme, especially against the backdrop of the increasing insurgency in the region.
Leaders of the club’s contingent, Justice Abubakar Sambo and Justice Idris Habib Shall in their vote of thanks at the reception said the Bauchi State Government is seriously addressing youth unemployment and sports is one of the many areas Governor Yuguda had identified as a potential source of youth engagement.
Meanwhile, registration for the 2015 edition of the Iber Cup will commence from September 1st, 2014, while registration is ongoing for other European tournaments being facilitated by Serahana Sports Management
