NFF embarks on another banning spree

Green, fresh hammered
A bother gale of ban yesterday swept through Nigerian football, as the hammer fell this time on The duo of Barrister Chris Green and Yusuf Ahmed fresh, who only last year presided over the ban placed on Chief Ogunjobi and Rumson Baribote.
The ban was coming as the crisis ridden football house took steps to unban those they had before now sent on soccer exile.
In a communiqué signed by High Chief Emeka Inyama, Chairman of the Communiqué Drafting Committee at the end of the meeting of the execu- tive committee held at the NFF secretariat in Abuja yesterday, the duo of Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed ‘Fresh’ and Barrister Christopher Green were suspended from the executive board and all football activities for one year and six months respectively.
Another board member, Suleiman Yahaya Kwande according to the commu- niqué was under investi- gation and could go the way of Green and Fresh if found guilty. Reasons for the ban  pending the ratification of the general assembly were that of glaring anti-board activities.
Just like when Ogunjobi and co were slammed, the executive committee backed its action by quot- ing relevant sections of its statutes.
“The decisions were in line with Article 34 (m) and Article 37 (1 & 5) of the NFF Statutes,” the communique stated .
The executive commit- tee disclosed that it had received the report of the Effiong Johnson –led sub- committee set up to review  lengthy bans on prominent members of the Nigeria football family, which includes Taiwo Ogunjobi, Rumson Baribote, Barr. Olaleye Adepoju, Jarrett Tenebe, Harrison Jalla, Ahmed Shuaibu-Gara Gombe, Chikelue Iloanusi and Olajide Fashikun.
A decision on the report, according to the communi- que will be taken at the next executive committee meet- ing billed for next week.
It would be recalled that Green who got “carded” yesterday headed the inves- tigative panel that recommended Ogunjobi’s ban for 10 years, while another  one headed by Inyama approved a 15-year ban for Baribote.
It is not yet clear if those banned yesterday or their wives would head to the court to get their pound of flesh as those banned before now did.
