Delta 2015: Obasanjo’s ex-aide promises infrastructural dev

Former Special Adviser to ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo on National Assembly Matters, Dr. Mrs. Esther Kelicha Uduehi, has promised to make wealth creation and tackle youth’s restiveness, as the major anchor of her administration, describing the duo as a key element to state development and nation-building.
Uduehi, who is Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Delta State also assured the people of massive infrastructural development and job creation for the teeming unemployed youths in the State, if elected governor in 2015.
The female aspirant, who is also chairman of the board of the National Commission for Mass Literacy and Non-Formal Education, made the promise during her consultation tour of different parts of the state where she said, “with my rich manifesto for Deltans, if given the mandate, I have the capacity to turn around the State for better.”
She said:  “I have been tested and trusted. I am a woman of few words but many actions. I have human capital development plans for the state if the mandate is given to me. Also, there will be massive infrastructural development and total overhaul of the education and health sectors.
“Every Deltan will have free access to education at least up to the senior secondary school level.  One of the issues that is very dear to my heart is our youths and women. I see them everywhere begging and I get disturbed; I want to get them off the streets, I want them to be empowered, I want a better life for our youths.
“Aside oil, Delta State is blessed with other mineral resources waiting to be tapped and I believe we can create enough jobs by citing industries in the local government areas where such resources are found.
“I will embark on urban renewal and rural development. I will develop the rural areas such that a lot of people will prefer to stay in their villages instead of migrating to the urban areas.
“As a former civil servant, the civil service is going to be core to whatever I will do as a governor. I am going to reposition the civil service to be able to meet the challenges civil servants face daily”.
Continuing, she said: “we should not be talking about woman or man in this governorship race rather we should be talking about the individual the credibility; the capability, the exposure, the experience and the passion with which the candidate want to serve. I want to serve my people and I am very passionate about it.”
