Hezbollah has said it planted a bomb that injured at least two Israeli troops on the ceasefire line in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese group said its fighters on Tuesday "detonated an
explosive device on the Shebaa Hills against a motorised Israeli patrol,
causing a number of injuries among the occupation's soldiers".
Israel said it responded to the attack, firing artillery at two Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon.
Peter Lerner, a spokesman for the Israeli army, said: "The Lebanese
government and Hezbollah are directly liable for this blatant breach of
Israel's sovereignty".
He said the Israelis "responded to the unprovoked aggression
against its forces and will continue to operate in order to maintain the
safety of the northern border of Israel".
Hezbollah and Israel fought a war in southern Lebanon in 2006,
wich ended with a UN-brokered ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
