INEC distributes permanent voter cards in Ebonyi August 15

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State yesterday said only those with the permanent voter’s cards will be allowed to vote in 2015 general elections. The Head of Voters’ Education and Publicity in the state, Mr. Andy Ezeani, told journalists in Abakaliki that the distribution of the permanent voter’s cards in the state would be between August 15 and August 17 in various polling units of the state.
He stated that there would be no room for the use of temporary voter’s card or for any other arrangement outside the permanent voter’s card in the 2015 elections, stressing that every registered voter must go out to collect the permanent voter’s card.
Ezeani also urged all registered voters to go to the polling units where they were registered to identify themselves before the collection of the permanent voter’s card in exchange for the temporary voter’s card.
The head of publicity further stated that the collection of the permanent voter’s card would not be by proxy, adding that any person who did not find his name in the voter register at the polling unit should proceed to register again during the continuous voter registration exercise.
