2015: Youths demand free, fair election

A political pressure group, the Advocates for Collective Transformation (ACT) Wednesday marched in their hundreds protesting against bad leaders in Nigeria while demanding peaceful elections next year.
Speaking at the rally held in Lagos, the National President of ACT, Tayo Fashogbon said the rally was to sensitise youths on peaceful participation in electoral process ahead of the 2015 general elections.
His words: “We want to sensitise youths to choose the right people to occupy leadership positions. Our future lies in voting the right candidates. The only thing Nigeria lacks is good leadership. We are not going to import leaders from abroad; so, we need good leaders from within.
“The youths must be enlightened on using their voting strength to position right leaders in government offices at all levels. We want credible candidates and not moneybags. We want leaders that will restore quality education.”
“Nigerians, particularly youths, are faced with various challenges ranging from unemployment, poverty, defective educational standard, lack of social welfare and in most cases total abandonment and systematic exclusion from the height of governance in the affairs that border on youths’ interest. This trend must not continue,” Fashogbon said.
The rally, which had students of various tertiary institutions in the South West, also called on the Federal Government to immediately reverse the N4,000 online registration for National Youth Service.
