Adamawa: More Villages Annexed By Insurgents

Boko Haram
Despite deployment of more soldiers to the northern part of Adamawa State, Boko Haram insurgents have continued to gain grounds as reports indicated that the insurgents have taken over more towns and villages.
Report from Garta, one of the villages overtaken by the insurgents said members of the sect started their onslaught on the villages by setting houses ablaze and killing trapped residents, mostly the aged and children.
A fleeing resident of the area who simply identified himself as Mr Bugi said the insurgents have destroyed many houses as they allegedly stole the belongings of the residents adding that reports reaching them indicated that major shops and business centres have been burgled and set ablaze.
“For now I can’t say the number of casualties as we are still in the bush and we learnt that the attackers just left the village this morning”, Bugi said. An unconfirmed report also indicated that the insurgents attacked Kuburshosho village where they burnt the family house of former governor of the state and current minister of Youth Development, Mr Boni Haruna.
The cNUSeFwu.dpuf insurgents however could not occupy Kamale, one of the neighbouring villages, as they could not cross the river adjoining the villages due to the increase in volume of the river as a result of torrential rainfall witnessed in the area recently.
Meanwhile, a former deputy governor of the defunct Gongola State, Barr David Barau, said over 10,000 of Higgi community indigenes have been displaced and facing hunger.
