AFCON 2015: Keshi rules Babatunde out of Sudan match

The hope of Volyn Lutsk FC of Ukraine midfielder, Babatunde Michael to be on duty against Sudan this weekend came crashing yesterday night, as interim head coach of the team, Stephen Keshi ruled him out of the encounter owing to injury.
Keshi, said after the evening session training that he had ruled out Ukraine based mid- fielder out from the encounter because he picked up a knock on the knee, while playing for his club.
“We have good cover for him and we pray that he bounces back before the return leg against Sudan in Nigeria,” he declared. Michael was emphatic when he spoke about his injury. “I really want to play this game against Sudan but fate says I will not, but during the return leg in Nigeria, I should be back. The doctors have assured me that I will be fit between four and five days time.”
The team continues it prepa- ration for the must win game against Sudan on Wednesday morning at the Goal Project site of the Abuja National Stadium.
The Super Eagles showed they will leave no stone un- turned, as they seek a qualifi- cation ticket for the 2015 Na- tions Cup in Morocco, with all
the invited 24 players training yesterday evening at the Main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.
Before then, there had been an early morning training at the Atro Turf of the Abuja Na- tional Stadium. The session even had the luxury of having newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr Pinnick Amaju Melvin in attendance.
However, all the 24 players invited for the double-header AFCON qualifier encounter trained for close to two hours under the watchful eyes of the Keshi-led technical crew with pockets of Abuja fans, journal- ists and the gun-wielding police officers.
