Boko Haram: Nyanya gets military base |
In response to the two deadly bomb attacks on Nyanya by the Boko Haram sect, the Nigerian army has established an operational base in the satellite town.
Code named “operation Restore Peace”, the establishment of the special unit, is to boost internal security in the area and other towns.
The unit, which came into existence about one month ago, is tasked with the responsibility of providing security for Nyanya, Mararaba, One man village, Maska, new Karu and other surrounding towns.
The military establishment is also charged with the responsibility of providing security for Abuja and other nearby towns ; ensure the safety and security of the Areas , . It is also to assist in smoking out criminals in the places mentioned.
The unit, which is a detachment from the Nigerian Army, will assist the Guards Brigade, which is tasked with the task of providing security for the President , Vice President, Important Personalities, as well as provide security for the entire federal capital territory and the surrounding states .
