8 govs for Igbo Day in Lagos

Eight state governors including, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State are to grace the 2014 Igbo Day, scheduled for September 29 in Lagos. Other governors are: T.A Orji of Abia State; Willy Obiano of Anambra State; Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State and Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State. Governors Sullivan Chime, Rochas Okorocha, and Chibuike Amaechi, of Enugu, Imo and Rivers respectively are also expected to grace the occasion.
The Igbo Day in Lagos is organised by the Lagos chapter of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
According to the Chairman of the organising committee, Dr. Anthony Ughagwu, the event holds on September 29 at the National Stadium, Surulere in Lagos.
Dr. Ughagwu, said the day which is the climax of the seven-day event would feature awards and recognition of Igbo sons and daughters and other Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves in their various endeavours and also made outstanding contributions to the development of the Igbo cause and Nigeria.
He stated that the event would showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo race.
