Ekiti election: Fayose blasts Fayemi

The Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Mr Ayo Fayose, has told the out-going governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to stop living in fools paradise by giving false hope to members of his political party over the June 21 guber election. He advised the governor to, instead, chart a new course on what to do after vacating office in October this year.
This was in apparent reference to a statement credited to Fayemi during a radio programme, “Gomina Nsalaye,” that his party has uncovered how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) allegedly rigged the June 21 governorship poll for the PDP.
The governor-elect, who reacted through his spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi, urged Fayemi to free himself from defeat shock and face reality.
In a  press statement  made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday, Adelusi said since Fayemi’s party had gone to challenge the election results at the tribunal, Fayemi should wait for the outcome of their petition.
Adelusi said the last Ekiti election was a straight fight between Ekiti people and Fayemi‎, explaining that the APC had ruled the people with deceit for long.
“Frankly speaking, it was Ekiti people, who demonstrated their outright rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Fayemi administration through the 16 – 0 defeat,” pointing out that no local government,  not even his local government wished him to stay.
“The incoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government will expose the hypocrisy of the Fayemi administration and through that, Nigerians will know that APC is not a party to be tolerated.
Adelusi reiterated that Fayemi did not mean well for the incoming administration. He queried: “ Even as the outgoing governor has less than three months to go, why did he create new local councils. Why did he  embark on mass recruitment of people into the state civil service and backdate appointments to 2013,  why arbitrary award of contracts?”
“ All these actions taken would definitely be reversed because they are not known to law. Ekiti who voted for return of Fayose has the belief that he would meet their needs.” END
