In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the council and Orlu Zonal PDP youth leader, Willie T.C Okolieogwo, the council also advised aspirants in the state for different political positions in 2015 to desist from fraternising with expelled members of the party in the local government or face the reactions of the council and its attendant consequences.
Part of the resolutions in the meeting of the council last Tuesday, in Ubulu stated that President Jonathan had done Oru West proud by ensuring the NNDC and MDGs projects were sited in different parts of the zone through the Senator representing the zone, Hope Uzodinma.
According to the resolutions, Senator Uzodinma, apart from attracting the numerous projects and empowering many Oru West people, had made the zone proud by becoming the star of Imo State in the National Assembly.
“The Elders Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State has applauded the adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate of the party in 2015, just as they have adopted Senator Hope Uzodinma representing Imo West Senatorial zone in the National Assembly, as their sole candidate of the party for any office he declares to run in 2015.
“We have never had it so good in Oru West. Our son, the senator has done very well indeed; we think that it is only reasonable that we reciprocate by endorsing him as our sole candidate for any position he wishes to run for in 2015,” he said.
According to the statement, a member of the council, Hon Uche Udemadu, the Local Government Organizing Secretary from Ozara Ward moved the motion for the adoption of President Jonathan as the sole candidate of the party in the Local Government and Senator Uzodinma as that of the party in the Local Government for any position he desires.
