One of the suspects died after the accident following a shoot out with men of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) attached to the Delta State Police Command.
The hoodlums had dispossessed a staff of a construction company, one Iyamukre of the sum of N2.1 million, an amount the victim had withdrawn from a branch of a new generation bank at Okumagba Avenue.
Iyamukre was intercepted while driving home along NNPC Complex Road by the four-man gang operating in a Toyota Camry car with registration number EW 16 LND.
They dispossessed the victim of the said amount at gun point but the victim was said to have courageously trailed the hoodlums with his car to Ogunu road, close to QRS office where the multiple accidents occurred.
While other victims of the accident were wreathing in pains, the hoodlums in a commando style jumped out of their accidented vehicle and ran to different directions but operatives of the QRS were said to have given them a hot chase and engaged them in a gun duel.
Confirming the incident, Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Celestina Kalu said one the suspected criminals was gunned down during exchange of fire while others escaped.
Kalu also confirmed that three injured victims of the multiple accidents were taken to the hospital in Warri for treatment, adding that the command has spread out its dragnets to trap down the fleeing members of the robbery gang.
According to her one G3 rifle number G310E393 with 19 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, the sum of N2.1m cash earlier snatched from the victim and one Nokia handset were recovered from the hoodlums.
