Ogunlola calls for delineation of Ijero LG by INEC

Ogunlola calls for delineation of Ijero LG by INEC
Ahead of June 21 governorship election, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on HIV/AIDS, Mrs. Omowunmi Ogunlola, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) to delineate the constituency in the council into two.

She made the request when Governor Kayode Fayemi went to Ijero Local Government Area for his campaign, saying “Ijero is too large to administer or witness development, as it is and the local government is too large to be one or to be a constituency.”

“I quite appreciate the fact that the bulk of the works for the creation of councils stops at the Ekiti State House of Assembly, but we want to appeal to the committee to consider all the parameters and components for the creation of local governments.

“The local government is second to Ado Ekiti in terms of population. Aside from this, we have enormous resources that can support three councils. If all these are considered, then we merit more local governments in this area,” she said.

Ogunlola maintained that the Council would give overwhelming support to the reelection bid of Governor Fayemi, saying the council had witnessed unprecedented development under the present government.

“The Governor has fulfilled his promises to the people of the constituency. We have a lot of projects in the Council that we can use to appeal to our people, so I have no fear  in my mind that APC will win in Ijero Local Government Area on Saturday, June 21, this year,” she boasted.
