Nigeria going through trying period –Sen Adeyemi
Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Smart Adeyemi, yesterday visited survivors of Monday’s bomb blast in Nyanya, Abuja, and personally donated N2 million to the wards and families of those receiving treatment at the National Hospital and Asokoro General Hospital.

Adeyemi, who went in company with members of the committee including Senators Philip Aduda and Emmanuel Bwacha handed over the money to Dr. Tony Okam, Chairman of the Governing Board of National Hospital, Abuja, and the management of the Asokoro General Hospital respectively.

Adeyemi said the donation became necessary after he heard reports that some of the survivors were not fed even though they were being treated on government’s bill.

The  lawmaker, representing Kogi West also pledged to make further donations at the committee level when other members of the committee return from their Easter break.

“”We watched the news yesterday and I over heard some families of victims talking about the fact that some of the victims are un-fed and that disturbed me personally. I don’t know how you are coping with that.

“I don’t know what you are doing about the feeding because majority of them are down-trodden. I don’t know if it is true, if it is true, let us know how we can help with that.

“My colleagues are out of town, when we are fully back, I will see what support we can give aside the legislative work to help improve the hospital.”

Adeyemi further disclosed that the Senate committee would ensure the installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in strategic places in the FCT, adding that the spate of bombing in the country is a phase that would soon pass.
