You can’t impeach Jonathan, Rep dares 37 APC lawmakers
Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change, Eziuche Ubani, yesterday dismissed the threat by 37 All Progressives Congress (APC) members to initiate impeachment proceeding against President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the lawmakers were embarking on a futile mission that would only make them a laughing stock at the end of the day. Eziuche, in a reaction to the threat by 37 former Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) lawmakers, who defected to APC last year, contended that APC could not muster enough members required by the constitution to impeach the President.

The 37 APC members had, last weekend, boasted that they would table a 30-point impeachment motion against the President, even as they  declared  that they were ready for  a, “ total war” against him.

One of the lawmakers, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that they had gathered all the impeachable sins of the President.

The lawmaker,  who is from the North said: “ We are going to the floor of the House to convince our colleagues that it is high time we impeached President Jonathan. We have chronicled his offences, we are ready to fight since the President has declared war on us.”

He itemised the President’s alleged sins to include financial  recklessness, missing  funds, genocide in the North-East, breach  of parliamentary resolutions and extra-budgetary spendings.

However, dismissing the threat, Eziuche warned his colleagues against further heating up the polity. He said: “Our colleagues in APC should be careful not to further heat up the polity. We don’t need such distraction at this moment.”
