 4 children, 6 adults escape death in Lagos collapsed building
Ten persons were rescued yesterday from the rubble of a building that collapsed n Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.

Six of the rescued victims are responding to treatment at the Gbagada General Hospital.

The victims  were rescued by a combined team of police officers and other security agencies.

The two-storey building located at number 11, Sand Beach Lane, off Longe Street, Oworonshoki was still under construction when it collapsed at about 11am yesterday, trapping all those working in it.

However, no life was lost because of  the timely arrival of rescue workers from both the State and Federal Government agencies.

Those trapped included, four children  and six adults.

The underaged were said to be assisting the construction workers. The minors were identified as Monday Ahungbe, 12, Jimoh Adebiyi, 13, and Moses Atokiti, 15.

Unconfirmed report has it that the owner of the collapsed building and the contractor in charge of it  are on the run.

Policemen from Oworonshoki have cordoned off the entire area    to prevent hoodlums from taking over the situation.

Image-maker of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South-West,Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident, said the quick intervention of  agencies such as NEMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) officials, policemen and operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  helped in saving the lives of the trapped workers.

Farinloye stated further that the teenagers sustained minor injuries and had been taken to  the Folabi Medical Centre, Oworonshoki, while two of the construction workers, who sustained major injuries, were rushed to Gbagada General Hospital.

LASEMA’s image-maker, Kehinde Adebayo, who also confirmed the incident told Daily Sun  that all casualties were being treated at the Government Hospital freely at the instance of the state government.
