C’River guber: 5 Imoke’s aides set to resign

The race to Cross River State Government House, Calabar has continued to gather momentum as five of Governor Liyel Imoke’s aides are set to resign their appointments over their governorship ambition.
Imoke’s aides, who have indicated interest to take over from him include the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mike Aniah; the Commissioners for Youths and Sports, Local Government Affairs and Works, Pat Ugbe, Peter Ojie and Legor Idagbo respectively.
Governor Imoke, had during a State Executive Council meeting held last week, ordered those interested in contesting political offices to resign from his cabinet before tomorrow as their presence was distracting and posing credibility problem to his administration.
This was the second time in a week, that the governor had told them to resign and face their campaigns.
At the last caucus meeting held at Peregrino Hall penultimate weekend, he had ordered those serving in his cabinet and who have political ambition, to vacate office.
The governor was livid that some of them were dropping his name as having been ordained by him and the party’s leadership, saying nobody has been ordained.
