OJUKWU’S WIDOW, SON BATTLE FOR APGA SENATORIAL TICKET.

OJUKWU’S WIDOW, SON BATTLE FOR APGA SENATORIAL TICKET.
The widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and his son, Emeka Ojukwu (jnr), are once more, set for battle, over who flies the flag of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra South senatorial district in the 2015 election.
Ojukwu, who led the Republic of Biafra (now defunct) was until his death in November 2012, the life-leader and chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA, the party which has controlled power in Anambra State for over eight years now.
Sunday Independent gathered from sources close to her that she has her eyes set on the senatorial seat and intends to vie on APGA platform.
Our sources disclosed that Bianca had pencilled down a former aide to the Ikemba Nnewi, who was a Commissioner under Governor Peter Obi to coordinate her campaign.
Meanwhile, Emeka Ojukwu (jnr), currently Sole Administrator of Nnewi North LGA and commissioner also in the Obi administration before resigning due to irreconcilable differences with his then boss, is also said to be interested in the same senatorial seat on the APGA platform.
Although he has not publicly declared his interest like his stepmother, it was gathered that he had already put machinery in place to pursue his ambition, tagged “Willie Will Work Force”, named after Governor Willie Obiano.
Ojukwu (jnr.) was also linked to the APGA Solidarity Movement, a group drumming up support for APGA ahead of the 2015 elections.
Efforts to reach Bianca and Emeka (jnr.) yielded no fruits as at press time, even as a source very close to the Ojukwu family said the ambition of the duo has started unsettling the family of the Ikemba Nnewi once again.
Our source said another crisis like the one over Ojukwu’s will may soon rock the family, if the ambitions of his widow and son were not well managed.
An unconfirmed report had indicated that the national leadership of APGA may have decided to give Bianca an automatic ticket.
Efforts to reach the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh to comment on this, proved abortive, but a source close to the APGA national secretariat denied any such plan for an automatic ticket, insisting that every aspirant will go to primaries.
