ARE THERE MORE REGISTERED VOTERS IN PDP OR APC CONTROL STATES? (See INEC’s latest figures)
by Dare Lawal
Nigeria’s electoral body is moving on with its preparations for the 2015 general elections, as it has now announced that for 2015, there are 70,383,427 registered voters in the country.
Lagos state with 5,426,391 voters has the highest number, while Bayelsa with 590,679, has the least.
Even though the number of registered voters does not signify whether a party will win an election or not, we decided to look at how many registered voters are in PDP controlled states, as against those in APC controlled states. Ekiti (whose APC governor will leave office next month for one in the PDP) as well as Ondo and Anambra, whose governors have already endorsed the PDP’s Goodluck Jonathan, are included under PDP controlled states. The FCT with 892,628 voters is not included in the total figures.
According to an INEC bulletin circulated to the press and signed by the director in charge of the commission’s secretariat, Ishiaku A. Gali, here are the numbers:
First the PDP:
