African Champions, the Super Eagles have dropped three places to the
37th position on the latest World football governing body, FIFA’s
monthly ranking.
The three-time African champions were ranked 34th in last month, but had endured an horrific Maroc 2015 African Nations Cup qualifying campaign, losing 2-3 to Congo in Calabar and recorded a goalless draw with South Africa in Cape Town.
With 642 points, Nigeria also dropped two places to sixth position behind Algeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal on the continent.
The Nigerian side will attempt to improve its placing on the log with the AFCON 2015 double header qualifier against Sudan in Khartoum and Calabar.
The World Champions, Germany and Argentina, however, slightly extended their lead over the chasing pack and remain unchallenged at the top of the FIFA World Ranking. They are followed in third position by Colombia, who swapped places with the Netherlands.
The next ranking will be published on October 23.
