Keshi recalls Moses, Babatunde and Enyeama as he names 24-man squad for Sudan

SUPER Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has called up 24 players for Nigeria's forthcoming two African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan taking place on October 11 and 15 with recalls for Victor Moses and Michael Babatunde.

On the verge of not qualifying for the tournament that takes place in Morocco next year, the Super Eagles got off to a poor start in the qualifiers after losing 2-3 at home to Congo and drawing 0-0 away to South Africa. They now have to win all their four remaining games to be sure of qualification and Keshi has decided to use all the players he can.

Neither Moses or Babatunde featured in the last two qualifiers die to poor form and injury respectively but now both have been recalled. Skipper Vincent Enyeama who also did not play as he asked to be excused to deal with family commitments, has also be recalled for both games.

On October 11, the Eagles will play Sudan in Omdurman and four days later will face the Sudanese in the return leg in Abuja. Apart from Moses, Babatunde and Enyeama getting recalls, Keshi has also called up a handful of new faces, including former junior international Raheem Lawal, China–based striker Aaron Samuel and the relatively unknown Anyora Ugonna, who plays in Norway.

Other surprise faces in the squad are Reading anchorman Hope Akpan and Austria –based striker Sunday Emmanuel. Currently, African champions, Nigeria must win both matches against pointless Sudan to have any realistic chance of reaching the finals in Morocco next year.
