PM Yatsenyuk: Ukraine depends on NATO protection

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has called NATO 'the only vehicle' to protect Ukraine.
Speaking at a conference in Kiev attended by European and Ukrainian lawmakers and business leaders, Yatsenyuk praised a new wave of economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU and the US. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goal is "to destroy Ukraine as an independent country, and to restore the Soviet Union".
Yatsenyuk explained it was still too early to reach a peace deal. He outlined the key priorities to rebuild Ukraine, but said the country is still in "a stage of war, facing aggression from Russia".
"This government is a war time government. And let me put it frankly, we are still in a stage of war, and the key aggressor is the Russian Federation. And until we get peace, it will be really difficult to have real changes," he said.
