Xi meets Kazakh president, calls for building "Silk Road"

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with top leaders of Central Asian countries in Dushanbe on Friday, on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
In a meeting with Kazakhstan's president Nursultan Nazarbayev, Xi Jinping called for more efforts in the establishment of the "Silk Road Economic Zone". The two presidents agreed to cooperate more to boost bilateral relations.
The Chinese president also met with Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. Xi Jinping praised their roadmap for joint development and major projects. He said the two nations should increase cooperation in energy and ensure the success of a natural gas project.
The Turkmen President called for cooperation also in politics, economy, education, agriculture and cultural exchanges. While meeting with Krygyzstan's president Almazbek Atambayev. Xi Jinping voiced support for the development path Krygyzstan has chosen, and said China will encourage more enterprises to invest in Krygyzstan. He also promised to step up joint anti-terrorism efforts.
