Some Niger Delta youths, said yesterday that they will not forgive
President Goodluck Jonathan if he fails to seek for a re-election in
2015. They said he must complete his eight years in office before power
is ceded to another geo-political zone. The youths, who spoke under the
aegis of Niger Delta Youth for Jonathan and led by its National
Coordinator, Prince Ebile Dudu, said the President has done a lot and
therefore, deserves to be re-elected.
Leader of the Niger Delta youths, Dudu said: “We believe so much in
the transformation Agenda of the president. Since the time of
independence, we have never occupied the highest office in Nigeria.
Obasanjo spent eight years.
“Yar-Adua would have spent eight years if he did not die. So, we want Jonathan to be there. It is our turn. For us in the Niger Delta, it will be a huge loss if Jonathan decides not to run.”
Similarly, a pan-Igbo group, Sustainable Development Forum, has kicked against the zoning of political offices, insisting that it mutates under-development.
Chairman of the group, Mazi Sunny Chijioke, while addressing journalists in Abuja, said Nigeria’s under-development is caused by unethical mindset like greed, selfishness and in some cases, hatred.
“This unethical mindset gave birth to the federal character principle, differential cut-off mark to gain entry into public schools, zoning of political offices and variants of corruption that enable some persons gain unfair and unjust socio-economic advantages over others.
“Overcoming the hypocrisy of some political actors is a challenge that faces Nigerians as we choose leaders at all tiers in 2015,” Chijioke said.
