Army reviews curfew in Borno

The army has reviewed the curfew imposed on troubled Borno State following the upsurge of Boko Haram attacks in the area. The dusk-to-dawn curfew in Maiduguri and some parts of Borno has now been reviewed to cover 7p.m. to 6a.m., spokesman of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Col. Sani Usman said in a statement.
Usman, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations (DDAPR), said the review of the duration of the curfew in Maiduguri and its environs, was with immediate effect.
“With effect from today, curfew hours imposed on Maiduguri metropolis and environs have been reviewed forward. It is now to last from 7:00p.m. to 6:00a.m daily,” he said in the terse statement.
He also urged residents to comply with the directive, warning that “anyone found flouting this directive will be arrested and prosecuted.”
Yesterday’s review of the curfew was the fifth since 2012 when insurgency heightened in Borno State.
