A presidential aspirant in the forthcoming Nigeria Football Federation elections, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, has promised to unite football stakeholders if elected into office.
Ogunjobi, a former secretary general of the NFF stressed that the spate of crisis in football was becoming embarrassing.
He said many followers of the game all over the world now hear only negative news about Nigeria on the Internet and in the media generally.
He said: “It is because we are not united, that crisis come up all the time. If we have a united body, there will be understanding.
“Football issues should be settled amicably by stakeholders, not in the law courts and by government. I have a good relationship with a good number of people in the football family and this will be enough to unite all of us.”
Ogunjobi also vowed to boost the sponsorship drive of the football ruling body.
He said it was sad that kits sponsors of the NFF, Adidas wrote a letter of intent to quit by December 2014.
“Nigeria got the sponsorship, when I was in office as secretary general and if elected, I will ensure we retain the Adidas deal and I will bring in more international sponsors for the federation.
“There is need to get sponsors to enable the NFF run its programmes and achieve independence to a large extent,” the former international added.
The NFF elections hold on September 30 in Warri, Delta State.
