Bama attacks: Gov Shettima cuts short trips to Sudan, UK

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State yesterday cut short his official trips to the United Kingdom and Sudan, following Monday’s renewed attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in some parts of Borno State.
Shettima was scheduled to hold assessment meetings with school authorities, concerning students recently sponsored by the state government for medicine and petroleum geo-sciences.
Daily Sun gathered that he returned to Abuja yesterday, where he held meetings with stakeholders on the happenings in Bama and other parts of the state.
As a fallout of the meetings, Daily Sun gathered, the governor approved the formation and release of funds to a committee set up to coordinate the distribution of relief materials and management of victims.
According to his media aide, Isa Gusau, the governor was also scheduled to leave for Maiduguri yesterday, despite heightened fears about planned attack on Maiduguri by Boko Haram insurgents, who had never hidden their desperation to hit the capital in retaliation for their forceful eviction by soldiers and citizen-volunteers in 2013.
