Jonathan nominates media chiefs, Soun of Ogbomosho, traffic warden, 293 others for national honours

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday approved the award of national honours to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) counterpart, Service Chiefs, the Inspector of General of Police (IGP), four media moguls and 295 other Nigerians. They include the Publisher of The Guardian, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru, Publisher of National Mirror and Daily Newswatch, Jimoh Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Silverbird Communications, Ben Murray Bruce, former deputy governor of Anambra State, Virgy Etiaba and a traffic warden.
‎According to a statement by the Director, Special Duties in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Adeyemo Tunde‎, 305 ‘Nigerians and friends of Nigeria’ would be honoured in the 2013\2014 National Honours Award, slated for September 29  at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Unlike the previous two years, when two Nigerians made the Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON), none got it this time, while 24 Nigerians have been chosen for the prestigious Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR), including the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh; the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jubrin; Chief of Air Staff Air, Vice Marshal Adesola Amosu, the acting IGP, Sulieman Abba; National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd);Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke; the Head of Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, Chief Philip Asiodu and the Chief of Staff to the President, Brigadier General Jones Arogbofa.
Others on the category of CFR are Chief Emmanuel Anyanwu, Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, Jimoh Ibrahim, Oludolapo Akinkugbe, former Head of Service, Bukar Aji, five Justices of the Supreme Court and Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin and Justice Abubakar Bashir Wali, both retired Supreme Court justices.
On the Commander of the Niger (CON) category, 59 people including the National Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, Olorogun, Felix Ibru, PDP governorship candidate in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, eight serving governors including Olusegun mimiko, eight serving ministers, seven state chief judges including the grand Khadi of Sokoto State, Abdulkadir Tambuwal, former governors Ibrahim Idris and Peter Odili.
On the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) category, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje top the list as well as the Permanent Secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Martin Uhomoibhi with four secretary to states governments included, also the Chairman of APGA, Victor Umeh, Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Alex Otti, Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeiri, the Auditor General of the Federation, Samuel Ukura, Accountant General of the Federation, Johan Otunla, Valerie Azinge, the Secretary of the 2014 national conference, Comptroller General of Immigration Service, David Parradang and Sani Sidi of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
