Leading Ekiti musician, Elemure dies

A leading traditional musician of Ekiti State origin, Chief Peter Ogunyemi, popularly known nationwide as “Elemure Ogunyemi’ is dead.The septuagenarian died in the early hours of Thursday, though details of his death were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.Daily Sun learnt that the ace musician might have died of undisclosed ailment, as he was said to have fallen sick a couple of weeks ago.
While alive, Elemure Ogunyemi traversed the length and breath of the country, trilling his fans with his music, usually laced with Ekiti dialect.He was also famous for his leading role in the promotion of Yoruba Language, a feat that made his fans in the Diaspora to invite him for a recent musical tour of America and Britain.
His sudden demise yesterday, shocked residents of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital where his musical group was domiciled till death.
Also, at Isaba town, his home town in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, residents in their dozens betrayed emotions on hearing of the death of the musician.The late musician was  survived by a wife and children while arrangements relating to his burial was yet to be made public.
