We’ll hit kidnappers, robbers hard

Ntomchukwu, Bayelsa CP
Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Valentine Ntomchukwu, has said that the command would ensure that armed robbery, kidnapping and other vices are reduced if not totally eradicated in the state. He said the police would be on patrol to chase out criminals, promising to build on the success of his predecessor and instill discipline in his men and officers. The CP promised the people that police would be friendly to them and they owed it a duty to provide useful information to help the police in eliminating crime:
“I am determined to ensure that criminals are not allowed into the state from neighboring states as there will be effective patrol along the boundary. Kidnappers and armed robbers will be chased out of their hideouts in the state. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit will flush out criminals from their hideouts.”
Ntomchukwu called on the residents to cooperate with the police in the task of ensuring peace in the state: “The command will pull its efforts together in ensuring that residents can sleep with their eyes closed.”
He called on stakeholders including traditional and spiritual leaders to help the police and counsel their followers on the need for them to assist the police with information:
“Armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminals are not spirit. They live in the people’s midst and they can only be fished out by the people themselves. Police will treat information given to them by the public under strict confidentiality. Police is a friend of the people constitutionally employed to protect.
“Police will not treat any member of the public with disdain. We are determined to ensure a harmonious relationship between members of the public and policemen in the state.”
