Onazi whose infringement earned the Congolese a penalty in Calabar, told Daily Sunsports that it would be war in South Africa as Nigeria can no longer toy with their remaining matches for the Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“I have seen a couple of newspaper reports this morning and it is obvious that Nigerians are not happy with the loss to Congo. We are not happy either because that was a match we ought to have won without any hitches.
“And since the result has come that way, we must put it behind us and ensure we go to South Africa and show them that they are also beatable at home.
“We are, however, appealing to Nigerians to keep praying for and supporting us because we can go places if they are there for us,” the former junior international stated.
Onazi played a major role in the Super Eagles win at the 2013 edition of the Nations Cup. He was also at the Confederation Cup in Brazil.
The player was injured in the Round of 16 clash against France.
Meanwhile, members of the Super Eagles were offered no match bonuses for their 3-2 to the Red Devils of Congo in Calabar at the weekend.
Sources in the team’s camp exclusively told Daily Sunsports that the players were only given $1,400 as camp allowances.
